Charlize Theron has a lot on her plate. The Academy Award winning actress has seen her most recent film The Fate of the Furious gross over $1 billion worldwide, has two more films coming out in 2018 and has two young children at home to take care of. In a recent interview on The Howard Stern Show, Theron opened up about her lack of divide between motherhood and dating.
Theron first became a mother in 2012 when she adopted her son Jackson. Jackson would get a sister three years later when Theron adopted August. She has repeated in numerous interviews her love of being a mother. She told Elle Canada, “I craved motherhood, and I was incredibly invested in it. It’s not easy to adopt, even when you’re a celebrity, but when I held my children in my arms, I was happier than I ever expected to be.”
She told Stern that the biggest thing about being a mother is that once you are a mother, it defines you. “Once I had my kids, the first two years you’re so, you turn into such a mom. Your body almost switches off. It’s like I had no desire to date or anything,” Theron said in the interview.
It does not mean that she does not date, but she handles things much differently. She emphasized taking things really slow with her partners. Above all, she makes sure to wait a long period of time before bringing a guy home to meet her kids.
Theron is coming off a two-year relationship with Sean Penn and admitted to recently going on a date with a famous face, but refused to reveal his identity. She claimed that they went on an evening stroll in Los Angeles and that he “was just like a really cool dude.” Somehow they avoided any cameras and paparazzi.
