Family outings are great, but they won’t bring you any closer to your husband. When you go on a vacation with your children, let’s face it, it isn’t really a vacation at all. You have to keep your eye out on the kids at all times and will hardly get a moments peace. The work day can end up being more relaxing in the long run. It’s super important to go on vacations and outings without your children. Do so will benefit your marriage and happiness. Here is why.
- Conversation Quality Goes Up – When kids are running wild it can be really hard to talk about something serious or even have a full length conversation. Try having an uninterrupted conversation. It won’t come very easy. That said, consider leaving the kids with their parents for a weekend and going out just the two of you. Experience some of those fun times you’ve been missing out on.
- Real Food – Often times your kids could end up calling the shots when it comes to what you’ll be eating. It has to be a place with kiddie food and crayons. You may have forgotten what it was like to eat and good adult meal or be somewhere really cool. This can be one of the major upsides of leaving the kid behind.
- Relaxed Environment – Date nights in your hometown can often times feel rushed. You got to hurry up and shovel the food down and then rush home so the babysitter can go home and you can be in the house with your kid. An overnight outing gives you the opportunity to be the best you that you can be. You’ll be relaxed and rested and this is often when relationship magic will happen.
- You’ll Feel Great Come the Weekday – A good solid weekend will provide you with a relaxed energy that will carry onto the weekday. You’ll be all around a better mother, wife and co-worker. Nothing takes the edge off quite like a good weekend away.
